X-Analysis View : Application and Data Insight – One Day

Overview:
The course helps customers install, set up and begin using X-Analysis View.

Requirements:
The course is generally geared towards IBM i admin and development resources at the customer site. Labs will require :

  • X-Analysis plug-in installed in one of the IBM Rational tools such as RDi or with in Eclipse that is included with the client installation.
  • The ability to connect to an IBM i server and to create and restore libraries.

Description:
All work will be performed remotely using Go-to-Meeting to collaboratively install and set up the product. The course consists of an interactive lecture, demonstrations and hands-on labs covering the components of X-Analysis View. Instructions and IBM i libraries are provided to execute the labs from a Windows desktop connecting to an IBM i server. The skills learned are applied to the user’s applications/data.

Topics Covered:
The course has three main sections:

  1. Impact Analysis & Documentation
    Generating the Cross-Reference library, Data Flow Diagrams, Structure Charts, Program Structure Charts, Variable Where Used, Annotation, Pseudo code, Flowcharts
  2. Data Model Extraction
    Methods used to generate the data model, Generating the data model, Review and use of the data dictionary, Data file relationships and how they are determined, Reviewing the data model for accuracy, Overriding and adding relationships, Viewing of data
  3. Repository build
    Populate repository, Discuss key findings, Explore X-Analysis View functions that will be useful at your site
 

X-Analysis Advisor : Impact Analysis , Code Quality, Business Rules and Graphical Documentation – Three Days

Overview:
This three day course (two days in addition to X-Analysis View) consists of an interactive lecture, demonstrations and a hands-on labs covering X-Analysis Advisor.

Requirements:
The course is generally geared towards IBM i admin and development resources at the customer site. Labs will require :

  • X-Analysis plug-in installed in one of the IBM Rational tools such as RDi or with in Eclipse that is included with the client installation.
  • The ability to connect to an IBM i server and to create and restore libraries.

Description:
The course may be conducted either remotely via Go-to-Meeting or On-site by request. The course consists of an interactive lecture, demonstrations and hands-on covering the components of X-Analysis Advisor. The course explains how to generate and use the cross-reference library used by X-Analysis, use of the interactive GUI to review and analyze Data Flow Diagrams and Structure Charts as well as Impact Analysis using the Variable Where Used functions. It will also cover the Documenter as well as Application Area creation.

Instructions and IBM i libraries are provided to execute the labs from a Windows desktop connecting to an IBM i server. The skills learned are applied to the user’s applications/data.

X-2E Analysis – Three Days

Overview:
This three day course consists of an interactive lecture, demonstrations and a hands-on labs covering X-2E Analysis

Newlook course – Three Days

Overview:

The course consists of interactive lectures, demonstrations and hands-on labs covering Newlook products. Lab instructions and IBM i libraries are provided to execute labs from a desktop and an IBM i server.

Topics Covered:
The course has three main sections:
